of Qualifications |
Alexandra Greeley has more than 25 years of experience
as an author, editor, reporter, food critic, staff writer and free-lance
writer and editor, both in the United States and Asia, having performed
virtually every editorial and writing task. Her expertise lies in
Asian culture, having lived in China for several years and traveling
there on extended research trips for her books. Passionately interested
in retaining original Asian recipes, her research techniques have
expanded to testing a wide variety of recipes for various publications
both in the United States and abroad.
Although she has focused primarily on food and health topics
throughout her career, she has had diverse writing experience
on numerous other topics, from sculpture in Thailand to soaring
college costs in the United States and on interior decorators
on Long Island. She has tackled complex issues from obscure food
topics to complicated health issues and put them into clear and
concise language for a general readership.
She has worked extensively with publishing houses, such as William
Morrow, Macmillan, Chronicle, Ten Speed Press and Harvard Common
Press as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader. She has used
QuarkXpress as a section editor at a newspaper and HTML when updating
websites for America Online. She is accustomed to juggling several
projects at once and adept at working tirelessly to meet deadlines.
The most recent significant projects include writing web material
for America Online's Digital City (Washington), editing the seven-unit
Child Care Course published by the American Red Cross, researching
and writing a brochure on Parkinson's Disease for the National
Institute of Health and, of course, bringing her own cookbooks
to publication.
